And now for more DIY ornaments on the cheap! (hehehe…nope, it never ends.) I embellished these snowflakes for my niece last year. Since I took step-by-step pics, I thought that I’d share them with you. Our goal last year was to keep it kind of old fashioned in feel with bronze stocking holders and mostly cream colored ornaments along with lots of greenery. I do plan on sharing the new decorating for this year so these ornaments may pop up again. But I think that we will go more simple Nordic or Scandinavian design. I design a different theme every year, so I won’t know for sure until Thanksgiving dinner is over. THEN I will start dragging out all of my “stuff” and decide what to do.
Until the new 2015 debut, here is a cheap, easy and pretty cute way to embellish those plastic snowflakes that are all over the place. I got mine at the Dollar Store, but they are to be found elsewhere as well.
For these ornaments, you will need:
- decorative scissors
- plastic snowflakes
- scrapbook embellishments
- bits of burlap, fabric and ribbon
- decorative paper
- Glue or a glue gun. I used a glue gun to do all of the assembly.
Cut strips of decorative paper. and adhere to snowflake.
Glue scrapbook embellishments onto the snowflakes. (Buttons look really cute on these as well.)
Here is one snowflake tucked into greenery on a wall hung candle holder.
How beautiful!!
