Just a quick post to share a fun little Halloween DIY. It’s easy and open to interpretation, so kids love it. They really get creative with their painted creatures.
You might recognize the wooden base that I used for my figures. They are unpainted wooden finials. You can get them at just about any hobby store. I used a pencil to first draw the faces onto the wood. Then I painted the wood with acrylic craft paint. The craft paint is kind of light on pigment, so you can easily see your graphite drawing through it. After I painted the figures, I went over the drawings to blacken the lines with a Sharpie. Next I coated them with a clear acrylic spray-on sealer. The last step was pulling out all kinds of papers and trims to “dress” the figures. I used a glue gun to attach their little costumes.
